There are an estimated 50,000 barber shops in the U.S. and probably 20 times that around the world but when was the last time you were able to setup an appointment with your barber using a website or mobile app. The answer is probably "never". This fragmented industry that has been around for centuries has been very slow to adopt new technologies to help them with scheduling, payments, reviews, referrals, etc. but now Squire wants to solve that problem.
Squire takes the hassle out of getting a haircut by letting you search for local barber shops, make an appointment and handle the payment stuff all with just a couple clicks. They are currently approaching 200 barber shops on the platform but given their enormous value proposition they're adding more barbers on a weekly basis.
In this interview I spoke with Dave about why he started Squire with his partners, how big this market opportunity really is, why the barber shop industry has been so slow to use technology, the company's experience being part of YCombinator, their current $1 million fundraising effort and much more.
